Keith Smith<\/strong>

Scottish fiddler Keith Smith is an accomplished performer and recording artist, notably of Scottish Country Dance music with Scottish pianist Muriel Johnstone with whom he has played since 1994. Keith, from Ardnamurchan on the West coast of Scotland, started playing the violin at the age of 6. He also plays bagpipes and viola in addition to fiddle, and is a keen instrument maker. His performances of Scottish music have taken him to countries throughout Europe, as well as to North America. He speaks both French and German and regularly teaches courses on fiddle and Scottish music in France and Germany. Keith has worked as a chemical engineer in the UK, Germany and Belgium and has a Ph.D. in engineering from the University of Cambridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anne-Laure Latour<\/strong>
Anne-Laure is French and currently lives in Cambridge, UK. She started dancing and playing piano for Scottish Country Dancing, in 2016, at the wonderful Paris Branch! After a couple of years without dancing, she started dancing again and enjoys playing for student classes and dances in Cambridge. She has had the chance to meet many dancers and musicians. in playing for Scottish dancers in several parts of the world (USA, Japan, Canada, Portugal, France).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jason Morris<\/strong>
I was absorbed into SCD after being a sideline parent when my kids were learning (a common entry route!). I stayed on after it became uncool for the kids.
I had about 12 years of unmolested dancing before someone discovered I was a musician and asked me to play for a wedding Ceilidh.
Things became pretty busy after that; I played in several combinations as accompanying piano before attempting to get to grips with playing fast music on a sideways keyboard that one can\u2019t see. Now I\u2019m dancing less, making music more.
During the working week I am an electronics engineer, on weekends I am supposed to be finishing building the house when not distracted by music, dancing or tinkering underneath a long succession of French or Italian vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pip Morris<\/strong>
I began dancing aged 5 at primary school, where a teacher ran SCD classes at lunchtime. When we changed suburbs and schools she suggested to my parents that we join the Lower Hutt club\u2019s children\u2019s class.
I enjoyed several years attending the club and even a JAM camp. My younger three siblings also followed me into SCD, but Dad stuck at it after we found competing interests.
I\u2019ve occasionally played drums for Ceilidh events; this year I\u2019ve joined the SCD band with Dad – which helps keep his accordion playing steady.
Drumming for SCD has its own style, lots more rolls on the snare than rock drumming, and some delicate brush work for gentle Strathspeys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
